Caravan was founded in 2010 by 3 Kiwi friends, who pioneered all-day dining in London. All-day dining needed easy drinking speciality grade coffee, which just wasn’t around at the time, so they did it themselves! Firstly, roasting in the basement of Exmouth Market before moving to Kings Cross and finally to their North London roastery. They now have 9 restaurants, 3 cafes and a roastery, but still the same Caravan charm, great food & coffee alike.

They’ve always been a speciality coffee roaster, with quality and integrity at the heart of everything they do. Proud winners of multiple Great Taste Awards each year.

Sustainability & Equality

From an equality perspective, Caravan created their Female Producers scheme to shine a spotlight on an imbalance in the coffee industry, where women provide around 70% of the labour, but only own 20% of the land. They pledge to buy 50% of their coffee from female landowners and donate 10p per kg sold, into local schemes at origin to further grow female economic empowerment. Find out more here

Like iKhofi, Caravan are a B Corp company, always striving to do better for the environment. In terms of their coffee sourcing, they work with a select group of cooperatives around the world who are democratically elected, worker-owned entities, passing profits back to their members. The cooperatives also provide additional benefits such as social and financial support programs, training and agronomic services, and community outreach. Caravan’s North London roastery utilises the latest roasting technology, using 80% less gas than a traditional drum roaster, lowering overall energy consumption. Their coffee bean packaging is industrially compostable.

Introducing The Works

  • The Works is the ultimate comfort coffee, a blend intended for easy drinking, perfect for a bean-to-cup machine, with or without milk. To achieve this, Caravan roast each component separately to its own unique profile to maximise sweetness and origin characteristics, before blending and packing straight after.

  • The Works is a blend of two coffees, both from Brazil, and both from farmer’s cooperatives. The base of the blend comes from the Cocatrel Cooperative, Brazil’s second largest coffee cooperative, headquartered in the town of Tres Pontas, in the state of Minas Gerais. Cocatrel have an expert team of quality personnel who taste each and every lot that is delivered throughout the harvest, blending them by flavour profile so that the result is consistent from batch to batch and harvest to harvest.

The accent notes of the Works Espresso are created by adding an exceptional lot from Cocarive Cooperative, who they've been working with since 2019. Founded in 1961, Cocarive is one of the country’s oldest cooperatives, with a reputation for exceptional quality and responsible farming, and is one of the strongest relationships at Caravan.

  • Thick bodied and loaded with sweetness, with flavours of toasted nuts, dark chocolate, and allspice. In milk, we taste pecan pie and warming cinnamon.
